Insert Quest Here Interview, Part 1
almost 7 years ago – Mon, May 27, 2019 at 11:54:02 PM

Hey! First, a heads up: No stream today. Some folks had to drop out to deal with life stuff so we're putting it off for now.

Instead, check this out: We're doing a couple of interviews with the [insert quest here] podcast. Part one, where I talk about the setting, is up now. Part 2, a longer discussion of mechanics with Freyja, will come next week.

We'll finish off the scenario after this Monday's bank holiday, so I'll see you soon!

Funded!
almost 7 years ago – Fri, May 24, 2019 at 07:03:39 PM

We did it! Thank you so much for believing in us. Hard Wired Island will be possible now thanks to your support. Seriously, it means a lot.

We still have 21 days to go, so let's talk about the future.

Stretch Goals

For our first stretch goal, we'll do a proper offset print run of the game instead of using DriveThruRPG. If you've backed at a print tier, your fancy softcover will be replaced with an even fancier hardcover. Jay has experience with that, so she'll help us set everything up. This goal is set at AU$27,500 (approx. US$19,000); if we keep this momentum going, we should hit it!

After that, we'll expand the book - hiring more freelancers, recruiting more consultants, commissioning more music. We're not worrying about that too much just yet, but we're really excited to see where Hard Wired Island goes from here.

Future Plans

So, what else is in store?

  • On Sunday, I'll be doing a Hard Wired Island stream. I'll post the details in a separate update once we've got everything locked down.
  • Soon, I'll be updating the preview packet with a sample scenario. This should give more insight into the setting, and provide you with some playtest material too!
  • I've just recorded an interview with the [insert quest here] podcast, which should be going up soon! It's the first half of a two-parter, so there'll be a larger interview with Freyja afterward.
  • Don't forget that IRC interview - #randomworlds on MagicStar, Wednesday June 5.

Again, thanks so much for your support - this wouldn't be possible without you. If you'd like to see more Hard Wired Island, please keep spreading the word! That's all for now, so I'll see you soon.

Over halfway funded, plans in the works!
almost 7 years ago – Fri, May 24, 2019 at 06:07:38 AM

Hey! We funded over halfway in the first 48 hours, which is fantastic. Thanks to everyone who's backed or bookmarked us, it really means a lot that this many people dig our game.

We'll try to bring you some new Hard Wired Island material to check out soon. If there's anything specific you want to know more about or questions you'd like answered, please let us know! In the meantime, we've got some interviews and the like planned; I'll be posting about them as we lock down the details, so keep an eye out for that.

For now, keep spreading the word if you can! As for me, I need to get some rest and eat some sausages, so I'll see you soon.

New Notes + PDF tier, IRC interview
almost 7 years ago – Fri, May 24, 2019 at 06:07:30 AM

Hey there! We're nearly funded, which is great. Thanks for backing, and thanks again if I thanked you last time.

So, first up: over in The Tarterian Depths of Twitter, some folks mentioned that they're interested in reading the author's notes but only want the PDFs. For them, I've added a new Notes + PDF + Soundtrack tier! It's the same pledge amount as Print + Soundtrack (approx. US$40). Now you can choose between Notes, Print, or both.

Also, since we like things that are 90s, I'll be doing an IRC interview with #randomworlds on Wednesday, June 5.

We're lining up some other things sooner, so I'll let you know when they're locked down. See you soon!

Day 1 down!
almost 7 years ago – Sat, May 18, 2019 at 01:51:37 PM

Hey there, and thanks for joining us! So we're off to a great start - 42% at time of writing.

If you haven't seen it yet, we've posted a preview on itch.io and DriveThruRPG. It's got an overview of the setting, the basic mechanics, some sample characters, and some great layout work. If we fund, we'll expand these ideas into a full game.

(There's a few things we cut for length, so we'll post them later in the campaign - I wrote a sample scenario about gentrified cybercrime and Freyja wrote a skateboarding sample character with jailbroken HRT cyberware. Standard cyberpunk stuff.)

In the meantime, we're asking for your help. If this is going to fund, we need your help to promote it. Tell your friends, show them the preview, post about it, whatever you think would help spread the word. The more visible we are, the easier funding will be!

That's all I've got for now. Thanks again for backing us, and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to post a comment (here or on the preview page), leave a message, or find us on Twitter. See you soon!
